How to add watermark
- Add the photos you want to protect.
- Type your watermark text — a name, handle or © line.
- Position it with the 3x3 grid, then tune size, opacity and colour. Turn on Tile to repeat it across the whole picture, which is much harder to crop out.
- Press Add watermark and download the batch.
Why this runs in your browser
Almost every other free image tool uploads your file to a server, processes it there and sends it back. Add Watermark does the work with the Canvas and File APIs that are already built into your browser, so the picture never leaves your device. That is faster for large files, it works on a plane, and it means there is no copy of your photo sitting in somebody's S3 bucket waiting to be deleted by a retention policy.
Frequently asked questions
Where should I put a watermark?
A corner watermark looks cleanest but is trivially cropped away. If deterrence matters more than looks, use tiling at low opacity (10-20%) across the centre — it survives cropping and is annoying to paint out.
Can I use my logo image instead of text?
This tool does text watermarks. For a logo, render your logo as text-free PNG and composite it in an editor, or overlay the two using the crop and resize tools as a workaround.
Does watermarking hurt image quality?
Only through the re-encode. Keep the output quality at 90 or above and the difference will not be visible.
Will the watermark stop people stealing my photos?
It raises the effort and keeps attribution attached when images get reshared, but nothing prevents a screenshot. Treat it as a deterrent and a credit line, not as protection.
